1 Year of Timeless Toys

This time last year my husband and I were working like crazy things painting walls, putting shelving units together, unpacking big deliveries of wonderful wooden toys, exciting boxes of colourful soft toys and trying to work out how to prgramme the till (still not sure I’ve cracked that one!)!

This time this year I’m looking back over the last 12 months and wondering where on earth it’s gone!!

I’ve had a whale of a time so far and have discovered some fab new lines – who’d have thought I hadn’t heard of Melissa and Doug Toys when we opened and only discovered Moover Toys after we opened!!

The concept of a Traditional Wooden Toy Shop has been very well received in the village of Barrowford where our lovely shop is! Lots of our customers comment on how nice it is to be able to touch and feel the toys rather than just look at them on the internet!! We now have lots of regular and repeat customers which is lovely for me. To see people time and again and be able to learn a little about people and the toys that their children like (or already have!) make me feel like part of the local community.

While it has been a fantabulous experience opening my own shop, and running my own business, it has also been ultimately stressful and scary! In the current economic climate it has been tight throughout the whole first year and continues to be so – but if somethings worth doing then it’s definitely worth working hard at! We’ve got lots of exciting new products coming in throughout the year from existing suppliers like Le Toy Van and Bigjigs Toys. We also have some new lines of toys and play equipment coming in like the fabulous toys from P’kolino

So in summary….1 year down and hopefully many more to go!!

Stay with me my lovely wooden toy friends…..the best is yet to come!!
